Music Monday Valentine’s day edition.
Or, Today was a surprisingly and ridiculously awesome day and not because it’s valentine’s but it was just a great day but the valentine aura and general good vibes were great too edition.
Music Monday Today, or this weekend, or my life, was largely unproductive edition.
Or, I can’t believe I only listened to Deerhunter now they are awesome.
Because Pitchfork did it, I felt like doing it, too.
Sometimes, I really wish that I lived during the 90s. Pretty much some of the best music ever. I’m gonna expand this to Top 20 and make a mix. This is just my opinion so don’t kill me if you disagree.
10. Subterranean Homesick Alien/Paranoid Android/Any Song from OKC - Radiohead
I can’t pick, okay.
9. Everlong - Foo Fighters
Also one of the songs I dream of playing live.
8. Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
It’s Smell Likes Teen frakkin Spirit. Are you kidding me?
7. Ang Huling El Bimbo - Eraserheads
The first song I ever learned on guitar.
6. Lover, You Should’ve Come Over - Jeff Buckley
The song that hangs inside my soul forever.
5. Gold Soundz - Pavement
Perfect lyrics, perfect song. ‘nuff said.
4. 1979 - The Smashing Pumpkins
In my dreams: Me on the driver seat + the girl of my dreams on the passenger seat + me and her singing this song on the top of our lungs = PERFECTION.
3. In The Aeroplane Over The Sea - Neutral Milk Hotel
Emotional Resonance. That is all.
2. Fake Plastic Trees - Radiohead
Second favorite song from my favorite band of all time. Don’t get me started.
1. Sometimes - My Bloody Valentine
All jokes aside, that one song that always makes me feel infinite.
Pitchfork apparently crowned Pavement’s Gold Soundz the best song of the 90s. I am inclined to agree, only because I love this song.
Like, for really, I love it.
Go back to those gold soundz
And keep my advent to your self
Because it’s nothing I don’t like
Is it a crisis or a boring change?
When it’s central, so essential,
It has a nice ring when you laugh
At the low life opinions
And they’re coming to the chorus now…
I keep your address to myself ‘cause we need secrets
We need secrets crets crets crets crets crets, back right now
Because I never wanna make you feel
That you’re social
Never ignorant soul
Believe in what you wanna do
And do you think that is a major flaw
When they rise up in the falling rain
And if you stay around with your knuckles ground down
The trial’s over, weapon’s found
Keep my address to myself because it’s secret
‘cause it’s secret cret cret cret cret, back right now
So drunk in the August sun
And you’re the kind of girl I like
Because you’re empty and I’m empty
And you can never quarantine the past
Did you remember, in December
That I won’t eat you when I’m gone
And if I go there, I won’t stay there
Because I’m sitting here too long
I’ve been sitting here too long
And I’ve been wasted
Advocating that word for the last word
Last words come up all you’ve got to wasteHere’s the rest of the list, if you are curious. (Link only goes to the #1-20 installment.)
My number one would be either Fake Plastic Trees or Sometimes but that’s just me. I don’t blame them because this song is just perfect. I am not exaggerating. It is absolutely perfect.
Music Monday I am late because today is Tuesday and yesterday was totally shitty and today is infinitely better than yesterday edition.
Until, you know, your fucking usb ruined my already ruined computer. Fuck you po.
Music Monday. Twee as fuck, post-rock, and the usual.
Music (not) Monday. Sonic Youth is the fucking best. Also, loving the cool weather. (As long as it doesn’t flood and everyone’s fine.)
Kids singing along to Pavement’s Stereo. Oh God, this is so freaking adorable. This totally made my day. Future kids, say hello to your future.
Music Monday! Hurray for Local Natives and Rizza Cabrera! My two new favorite artists.
Music Monday! My first one, because I finally got how Last.fm works. These apparently are my top artists according to my iTunes. So hipster.
