About Today (Live)
The National
Shot by Vincent Moon

This was in my drafts, tucked in this corner for maybe close to a year. And it’s funny how it’s still painful, even when I’m (extremely) happy. It’s not a twinge in response to a specific thing, but kind of a soundtrack to a loneliness and hopelessness, and the helplessness that comes with it.

Funnily enough, it’s (sounds like) a song for his now-wife, Carin. I’m glad it looks like it worked out.

This would have been a heartbreakingly appropriate song for those days in 2011.

Tonight you just close your eyes
and I just watch you
slip away
